SIMULATOR PROGRAMS FOR
CLEARWATER COMMUNITIES

Clearwater and the coastal Pinellas communities sit slightly further out than St. Petersburg, which changes the scheduling more than it changes anything else.

Local Context

SENIOR COMMUNITIES IN CLEARWATER

Coastal Pinellas has a substantial concentration of senior living and 55+ communities, many of them long established. What differs from St. Petersburg is the geography: communities are spread along the coast rather than concentrated, so a trip serves a narrower area.

That points toward longer single visits rather than short frequent ones. If we are making the trip, it is usually better for everyone if more residents get a turn while we are there.

A note on scope: Academy Sim Racing provides simulator experiences and structured programs. We are not a medical provider and we do not offer therapy, treatment or clinical assessment. Where a program runs alongside rehabilitation or clinical care, it is complementary to that care and designed with your facility’s qualified staff, never a substitute for it. We make no claims about health, cognitive or physical outcomes.

What We Run

PROGRAMS THAT SUIT THE AREA

01
Longer single visits
Better value than short frequent ones given the travel, and more residents get a turn.
02
Half or full day
Suits larger communities where an afternoon would not reach everyone.
03
Seasonal blocks
A defined run of visits, which suits communities whose population changes through the year.
04
Open house and family events
For communities marketing to prospective residents.
Accessibility

WHO CAN TAKE PART

Accessibility is the first conversation, not the last

The single most useful thing you can tell us in advance is who is taking part. A simulator seat is a fixed racing seat, and getting into one is not possible or comfortable for every resident.

  • Wheelchair users. Tell us in advance. There are setups that work without transferring out of a chair, and setups that do not, and we would rather solve that before we arrive.
  • Limited mobility or transfers. If a resident needs assistance to transfer, your staff should handle that. Our team runs the simulators and does not provide personal care.
  • Hand and grip strength. Wheel force can be reduced substantially, and for some participants turned down to almost nothing.
  • Vision and hearing. Screen distance, text size and volume are all adjustable.
  • Motion sensitivity. Some people find any moving screen uncomfortable. Sessions can be kept short and stationary, and nobody should feel obliged to continue.

Tell us the range of needs in the room and we will tell you honestly what will work and what will not, rather than discovering it in front of your residents.

Practical

WHAT TO KNOW LOCALLY

Fewer, longer visits usually work better

Given the travel, a half or full day reaches more residents per trip than an hour or two. If you want recurring programming, a longer session less often is usually the better structure.

Tell us about seasonal population

If your community’s numbers change through the year, that affects when a visit is worth making. It is worth mentioning when you get in touch.

Academy Sim Racing is based at 1421 Massaro Blvd in Tampa. We do not operate an office or facility in Clearwater, and we have no affiliation with any community named or unnamed in that area. We travel there to run programs, and travel is quoted per booking.

Questions

WHAT ACTIVITY DIRECTORS ASK

Do you travel to Clearwater?
Yes, from our Tampa base. It is a straightforward trip and one we make for coastal Pinellas communities.
Is a recurring program practical here?
Yes, though we would usually suggest fewer and longer visits rather than short frequent ones, given the travel.
Do you cover Dunedin, Palm Harbor and Safety Harbor?
Yes, and the surrounding coastal communities.
How many residents can take part in a day?
It depends on numbers of simulators and how long each resident wants. Tell us your resident count and we will size it.
Is staff provided?
Yes. Our team runs the whole session. Your staff handle anything involving residents personally.
How does travel affect the cost?
Travel is quoted per booking. A longer single visit spreads that across more residents.
