Post-Stroke & Recovery
RELEARNING THE ROAD, ONE SAFE LAP AT A TIME
For stroke survivors and those recovering from neurological events, returning to driving is one of the biggest markers of regained independence. Simulator sessions can form part of a program run by that person’s own clinical team.

In a randomized trial of 83 stroke patients, those given five weeks of simulator training were close to twice as likely to pass an official on-road evaluation as those given driving-related cognitive tasks instead.

QUESTIONS WE HEAR OFTEN
Everything happens in a simulator, so there is no on-road collision exposure, participants are seated, and staff stay alongside them. We adjust difficulty, speed, and traffic density for each participant, and sessions are always one-on-one with trained staff. For those with medical conditions, we recommend clearance from their physician first, and we're happy to coordinate with your clinical team.
Some individuals experience mild disorientation during first-time use, similar to mild motion sickness. We start with slow, calm scenarios, keep initial sessions short (15–20 minutes), and monitor comfort closely. Most participants adjust quickly. Those with severe vestibular conditions may not be candidates, we'll discuss this during the initial consultation.
Yes. We're based in Tampa and routinely serve facilities across Tampa Bay and statewide Florida. Travel is factored into program pricing based on distance and frequency. For facilities beyond our standard service area, we're still happy to discuss options.
No, and it shouldn't. Our simulators are a tool that complements clinical rehabilitation, not a replacement for it. We partner with occupational therapists, driving rehabilitation specialists, and physicians who use simulator time as part of a supervised program. For return-to-driving evaluations, we recommend working with a Certified Driver Rehabilitation Specialist (CDRS).
It depends on whether you want an occasional visit, a weekly program, a group event, or a clinical partnership. One-time facility visits and recurring wellness programs are quoted separately. The best starting point is a free discovery call, tell us what you're trying to accomplish and we'll design a program that fits your budget.
For early-stage cognitive decline, many participants take part comfortably. Whether it suits a particular person is a decision for them, their family and their care team. For more advanced dementia, appropriateness varies by individual and we work with families and clinical staff to assess readiness. We never push someone who isn't comfortable, the goal is engagement and enjoyment, not performance.
Yes. Our simulators are set up for easy wheelchair-to-seat transfer with staff support, and we can accommodate participants with limited mobility. Just let us know about specific needs in advance so we can prepare.
Absolutely, and we encourage it. Family-inclusive sessions create shared experiences that are often more emotionally meaningful than solo sessions. Adult children who haven't seen their parent "drive" in years often find it incredibly moving.
